How do you think "lazy eye" affects the developmental process an infant goes thru?

My son is in the 1st grade. He repeated kindergarten.
His teacher believes that he has visual learning diability.
After reviewing your diagnosis for learning problems, I
too believe that he has this and maybe a couple other
problems. He was adopted at age 5 months from The Republic
of Georgia, so we have no medical history to refer to.
I do find it interesting that he did not crawl much, but
went straight to walking. He is left handed, but plays
sports and violin right handed. He is spontaneous but slow, has a hard time focusing and is easilty distracted.
He is not a discipline problem - he is a loving and
enjoyable child. Since birth, Jonathan's eyes have crossed
inward. He had surgery 3 years ago to correct this and
presently wears glasses. His doctor says his eyes are
aligned properly and now we are trying to train his brain
to see properly. My question is- how do you think "lazy eye" affects the developmental process an infant goes thru?
It seems to me that if they can not see properly - then
their brains cannot develop properly. Could this be so and can retraining the brain resolve this problem?
Thank you for your time
