Modifying the program for a preschooler with autism
Hi. I recently received the program, and I noticed that the materials mentioned modifying the program for young children. I was wondering if you had any suggestions as to how I should modify the program from my daughter. She is 3.5 years old. We are currently going through the evaluation process with a multidisciplinary team, and I suspect that they will go with high functioning autism. Although she has a speech delay and sensory issues, she does communicate and knows her uppercase letters. However, some of the activities will obviously not work for her (the ones using lowercase letters and numbers for sure), and I am curious as to how well some of the others will work because some of them depend heavily on auditory instructions (she is NOT an auditory learner....AT ALL). I would like her to get as much out of the program as possible, so I did not want to modify without seeking a little guidance! Thanks! Amy
