Informed Parents Can Beat Dyslexia

The parents should be the first to arm themselves with the knowledge about dyslexia because they are the first ones to deal with their child's condition. Often times, the eagerness of the parents to help their children succeed is the key in understanding and doing something meaningful by gathering the information that they can share with other people, specifically the teachers, who will help their children's with their learning disability.
Liz Dunoon, who is a teacher and a mother to three children all with dyslexia, was the one who did research in order to help her children.
"Liz started to research how she could help her son to learn and to be successful at school. With the teachers approval she began to tutor 6 students from her son’s class, who were also struggling to read and with 3 short sessions per week over 6 weeks she had every child in her group reading and smiling once again."
"The above supports my own findings of dyslexic children. If dyslexics are taught in a way appropriate for them they can learn to read in English in as early as 6 weeks. I am not a qualified teacher like Liz and have said I take about 6 months. Anyway, the idea is the same- dyslexics are all intelligent and teachable."
